Blancpain was founded in 1735 by Jehan-Jacques Blancpain in Villeret, Switzerland. The company now has its headquarters in Le Brassus. They are considered the leading watch maker of complicated timepieces that embody the finest mechanical movements throughout the watch making industry. The brand is credited with never creating a quartz movement timepiece or any timepiece with digital display. Blancpain creates roughly 10,000 watches annually, each made by a single watch maker. They are credited with creating the world’s smallest watch movement in 1984 and the world’s thinnest watch movement in 1989. Blancpain is best known for creating the Fifty-Fathoms timepiece, which was worn by Jacques Cousteau in his famous 1956 movie, The Silent World. The Limited Edition Blancpain 1735 is one of the most complicated timepieces throughout the watch making world, as it embodies a Tourbillon, minute repeater, perpetual calendar and split chronograph.
