About Patek Philippe
Patek Philippe was founded on May 1st 1839 by Antoine Norbet de Patek and Francois Czapek; Czapek left the company in 1845 when Patek joined forces with Adrien Philippe. Patek Philippe & Cie was named in 1851. The Calatrava Cross is the brand’s symbol and was inspired by the story of the Spanish knights who defended the Calatrava citadel against the Moors in 1158. Securing 70 patents, Patek Philippe is considered the only brand to manufacture all of its mechanical movements set within the strict guidelines of the Geneva Seal. Patek created the first Swiss wristwatch in 1868 for the Countess Koscowicz of Hungary. The most popular model, the Calatrava, was introduced in 1932. The main workshops and headquarters are located in Plan-les-Ouates, with the case and bracelet workshops located in Perly and the museum located in Plainpalais keeping the company deep in Geneva tradition.
