Signed Framed Victor Vasarely Limited Edition Composition Silkscreen
ExcellentA signed limited edition serigraph by Victor Vasarely, Hungarian (1908 - 1997) entitled "Composition." It is a silkscreen that was created by the artist in 1964, an early example of his artwork. This piece is an excellent example of Vasarely's work in the world of optical art. This piece is signed by the artist in pencil, lower right and numbered in pencil, lower left.

Influenced greatly by the problems of the world's cities, he feels his work offers a solution by presenting a clear view of the "color-surface-perception" relationship. He has used the income from the sale of these "investigations," as he calls his prints, to establish a socio-cultural foundation in Aix-en-Provence, France, for the study of the integration of plastic beauty at all levels of the urban environment. He is represented in major museums all over the world and has received many artistic and honorary awards. Among these distinctions are the French Legion of Honor, the Guggenheim Prize, and the Gold Medal of the Triennale in Milan. -
Signed Robert Indiana Limited Edition Golden Future Of America Silkscreen
ExcellentRobert Indiana is known for his great graphical interpretations of common words and themes. This 1976 silkscreen, which is entitled "Golden Future of America," is signed by the artist in pencil, lower right and is numbered in pencil, lower left. Edition of 175.
Born Robert Clark in New Castle, Indiana, in 1928, he adopted the name of his native state as a pseudonymous surname early in his career. During his typically Midwestern boyhood, highway signs had a symbolic importance for him. His father worked for Phillips 66 gas and, when he left his wife and son, he did so down Route 66. And the diner, which his mother subsequently operated, had the familiar "EAT" sign looming overhead. Indiana's best known image is the word love in upper-case letters, arranged in a square with a tilted letter O. This image, first created for a Christmas card for the Museum of Modern Art in 1964, was included on an eight-cent United States Postal Service postage stamp in 1973, the first of their regular series of "love stamps." His Love Sculptures are all over the major cities of the United States and throughout the world. -
