Signed Peter Max Limited Edition Eternal Bubble Dance Serigraph
ExcellentA fantastic example of the psychedelic pop art of Peter Max. This piece, which is entitled "Eternal Bubble Dance," is a serigraph created in 1971. This serigraph is from a small edition of 100 prints and is signed by the artist in pencil, lower right.
From visionary pop artist of the 1960's, to master of dynamic neo Expressionism, Peter Max and his vibrant colors have become part of the fabric of contemporary American culture. In the 1960's Max rose to youthful prominence with his now-famous "Cosmic '60s" style, a bold linear type of painting which employed Fauvist use of color and depicted transcendental themes. Peter Max revolutionized art of the 60' just as the Beatles transformed the music of the decade. As his expressionistic style evolved, becoming more sensuous and painterly, Max' unique symbolism and vibrant color palette have continued to inspire new generations of Americans throughout the decades. Peter Max is a passionate environmentalist and defender of human and animal rights, often dedicating paintings and posters for these noteworthy causes. He has celebrated our nation's principles of freedom and democracy with his famous paintings of American icons of freedom including Lady Liberty and the American Flag. In 1981 he painted six liberty portraits for the America President and Mrs. Reagan, and in 1993, his famous "100 Clintons' installation. Max has painted for five American presidents; Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush, and Clinton.
Max has had approximately forty museum shows internationally, and more than fifty gallery shows worldwide. His works appear in the prominent collections of many museums, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York. -

Signed Framed Sol LeWitt Limited Edition Untitled Two Cubes Serigraph
ExcellentThis untitled piece is an exceptional example of the great work of Sol LeWitt (American, 1928 - 2007). This 1990 serigraph was created on Arches paper and features two cubes, one in grey and one in primary colors, which highlights the minimalist and geometric art of Lewitt. This framed piece is from an edition of 150 and is signed by the artist in marker, lower right.
Sol LeWitt, who was born in Connecticut in 1928, is one of the most influential artists of our time. In the catalog for his 1978 retrospective at New York's Museum of Modern Art, Bernice Rose, Curator of Drawings, says that his innovative work drawing directly on walls "was as important for drawing as Pollock's use of the drip technique had been for painting in the 1950s." LeWitt began exhibiting in New York in the early 1960s and since then has had many exhibitions in galleries and museums around the world, including the Gemeente Museum, The Hague, Holland, the Kunsthalle, Berne, Switzerland, the Rijksmuseum Kroller-Muller, the Netherlands, the Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford, CT, and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago. -
Signed Framed Kiki Kogelnik Desire Serigraph
ExcellentA truly fun and sharp serigraph by the great Austrian artist, Kiki Kogelnik (1935 - 1997). Her works are both provocative and fashionable and this is a great example of her impact. This framed piece, which is entitled "Desire," was printed in 1981 and is signed by the artist in pencil, lower right.
Kiki Kogelnik, an Austrian by birth and training, lived in the United States for many years. She is exhibited widely in Europe and the U.S. Her early work was primarily abstract, but soon evolved into cut out figural forms set within space age settings and attire. These early interests continue to appear in the present figure paintings of women. "Fashion imagery relates directly to our fantasy expectations of the world... expectations which are never met in real life where people are not perfectly attired, posed, cool, aloof and elegant," says Ms. Kogelnik. As she once portrayed herself with a gigantic scissor, Kogelnik tailors a life to size for us. The idols of society drop their masks, displaying anemic faces, their bloodless beauty and disassociation with the real world. Behind all this stands the artist with a knowing and melancholic smile, fully engaged, holding up a mirror to the face of our time. -
Signed LeRoy Neiman Limited Edition Al Capone Serigraph
Very GoodSigned LeRoy Neiman limited edition serigraph entitled, "Al Capone," is signed by the artist in pencil, lower right and numbered by the artist in pencil, lower left. This piece is number 7 in a series of 300. Published by Knoedler Publishing. This piece is in very good condition with minor curling and slight staining around the edges.
Born in St. Paul, Minnesota LeRoy Neiman developed a great aptitude for drawing and sketching at an early age. In 1942, Neiman left high school and enlisted in the Army, where he created pieces for Red Cross shows and other sexually suggestive scenes in the military kitchens and dining halls. After 4 years with the Army he returned to the states to finish high school. He attended the Art Institute of Chicago, De Paul University and the University of Illinois. Having finished his studies, Neiman was at teacher at the Art Institute of Chicago for 10 years. In 1953, Neiman had his first solo shows in both Chicago and Lincoln, Illinois. That same year, Neiman began creating pieces for Playboy through his acquaintance with Hugh Hefner from a previous job as a freelance artist for a Chicago department store that helped to bring his art to a wider mass of people. He was most comfortable creating pieces that he was best acquainted. His favorite subjects to portray were related to the sports world because he felt that sports were a dominant universal force that were enjoyed by all walks of life. He became the official artist for ABC during the 1972, 1976, 1980 and 1984 Olympics.
Considered one of the favorite and most well known American artists living today, LeRoy Neiman has built a reputation for creating pieces that bring to life every day images to life through an energetic barrage of bold colors. Neiman also built a reputation for his colorful interpretations of famous celebrities and athletes. Neiman relies heavily on a bright color palette that creates the violent and dramatic strokes that brings his subjects to life. As seen with his portraits, Neiman captures the person in the persona in which they have created themselves; he is not concerned with delving into the emotional feelings or personal thoughts of the figures. In this 1972 serigraph, Neiman portrays the famed Al Capone, who was a notable Italian figure of crime, in a bright barrage of colorful brushstrokes that enhance his domineering persona. -
Signed Limited Edition Robert Indiana Marilyn Monroe Serigraph
ExcellentRobert Indiana has become famous for his images of LOVE, The American Dream, and his craft with poster and graphic art, this print combines those ideas into one great serigraph. The print is signed by the artist in pencil, lower right and numbered in pencil, lower left by Indiana and the words around the image of Marilyn Monroe in the center pay homage to some of the greatest beauties in entertainment, "Rita, Jayne, Betty, Clara, Mae, and Jean"
Born Robert Clark in New Castle, Indiana, in 1928, he adopted the name of his native state as a pseudonymous surname early in his career. During his typically Midwestern boyhood, highway signs had a symbolic importance for him. His father worked for Phillips 66 gas and, when he left his wife and son, he did so down Route #66. The American dream has been a recurring theme in Indiana's work, and he has used it to both celebrate and criticize the national way of life. In the midst of all the gaudy, star-spangled color of The American Dream #J (1961, Museum of Modern Art), for instance, he highlights the words "Take All" and "Tilt" as reminders both of Americans' materialism and of the tendency of some to cheat, as they do on pinball machines. And the diner which his mother subsequently operated had the familiar "EAT" sign looming overhead. Indiana's best known image is the word love in upper-case letters, arranged in a square with a tilted letter O. This image, first created for a Christmas card for the Museum of Modern Art in 1964, was included on an eight-cent United States Postal Service postage stamp in 1973, the first of their regular series of "love stamps." His Love Sculptures are all over the major cities of the United States and throughout the world.
Marilyn by Robert Indiana brings together two pop icons into one fantastic print. -
