Signed Framed Peter Max Limited Edition Untitled 19 Serigraph
ExcellentA fantastic example of the psychedelic pop art of Peter Max. This 1972 piece, which is entitled "Untitled 19," is a serigraph from a small edition of 100 prints. This serigraph is signed by the artist in pencil, lower right.
From visionary pop artist of the 1960's, to master of dynamic neo Expressionism, Peter Max and his vibrant colors have become part of the fabric of contemporary American culture. In the 1960's Max rose to youthful prominence with his now-famous "Cosmic '60s" style, a bold linear type of painting which employed Fauvist use of color and depicted transcendental themes. Peter Max revolutionized art of the 60' just as the Beatles transformed the music of the decade. As his expressionistic style evolved, becoming more sensuous and painterly, Max' unique symbolism and vibrant color palette have continued to inspire new generations of Americans throughout the decades. Peter Max is a passionate environmentalist and defender of human and animal rights, often dedicating paintings and posters for these noteworthy causes. He has celebrated our nation's principles of freedom and democracy with his famous paintings of American icons of freedom including Lady Liberty and the American Flag. In 1981 he painted six liberty portraits for the America President and Mrs. Reagan, and in 1993, his famous "100 Clintons' installation. Max has painted for five American presidents; Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush, and Clinton.
Max has had approximately forty museum shows internationally, and more than fifty gallery shows worldwide. His works appear in the prominent collections of many museums, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York. -
Signed Framed Sol LeWitt Limited Edition Untitled Two Cubes Serigraph
ExcellentThis untitled piece is an exceptional example of the great work of Sol LeWitt (American, 1928 - 2007). This 1990 serigraph was created on Arches paper and features two cubes, one in grey and one in primary colors, which highlights the minimalist and geometric art of Lewitt. This framed piece is from an edition of 150 and is signed by the artist in marker, lower right.
Sol LeWitt, who was born in Connecticut in 1928, is one of the most influential artists of our time. In the catalog for his 1978 retrospective at New York's Museum of Modern Art, Bernice Rose, Curator of Drawings, says that his innovative work drawing directly on walls "was as important for drawing as Pollock's use of the drip technique had been for painting in the 1950s." LeWitt began exhibiting in New York in the early 1960s and since then has had many exhibitions in galleries and museums around the world, including the Gemeente Museum, The Hague, Holland, the Kunsthalle, Berne, Switzerland, the Rijksmuseum Kroller-Muller, the Netherlands, the Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford, CT, and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago. -
Signed Framed Kiki Kogelnik Desire Serigraph
ExcellentA truly fun and sharp serigraph by the great Austrian artist, Kiki Kogelnik (1935 - 1997). Her works are both provocative and fashionable and this is a great example of her impact. This framed piece, which is entitled "Desire," was printed in 1981 and is signed by the artist in pencil, lower right.
Kiki Kogelnik, an Austrian by birth and training, lived in the United States for many years. She is exhibited widely in Europe and the U.S. Her early work was primarily abstract, but soon evolved into cut out figural forms set within space age settings and attire. These early interests continue to appear in the present figure paintings of women. "Fashion imagery relates directly to our fantasy expectations of the world... expectations which are never met in real life where people are not perfectly attired, posed, cool, aloof and elegant," says Ms. Kogelnik. As she once portrayed herself with a gigantic scissor, Kogelnik tailors a life to size for us. The idols of society drop their masks, displaying anemic faces, their bloodless beauty and disassociation with the real world. Behind all this stands the artist with a knowing and melancholic smile, fully engaged, holding up a mirror to the face of our time. -
Signed Allan D'Arcangelo Limited Edition Smoke Dreams Serigraph
ExcellentA pop art serigraph entitled "Smoke Dreams" by Allan D'Arcangelo (American 1930-1998). This piece was created in 1980 and highlights both his experimentation with the American highway and also the feminine figure. This piece, which is from an edition of 250, is signed and numbered by the artist in pencil.
Allan D'Arcangelo was born in Buffalo, New York. He earned a degree in history from the University of Buffalo and then moved to Mexico City where he studied art and, in 1958, had his first one-man show. His style, loosely termed "hard edge" or constructivist art, is based on spatial relationships. A keen sense of perception, complemented by expert use of color tones and shadows, points up these relationships within his forceful compositions. His reputation as a Pop artist was established by his one-man exhibition where he showed his first acrylic paintings of the American highway and industrial landscape, such as Highway U.S. 1 -- No. 3 (1963; Richmond, VA Mus. F.A.). It has been said that D'Arcangelo "has the ability to defy, yet document, spatial relationships at the same time." The recipient of fifteen awards and commissions, D 'Arcangelo has had frequent solo exhibitions, many of which traveled to prominent museums throughout America. His work appears in more than thirty public collections, including those of the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim Museum, and the Brooklyn Museum in New York, the Detroit Institute of Art, and the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. -
Signed Framed Giancarlo Impiglia Tennis Player Serigraph
ExcellentA framed serigraph by Giancarlo Impiglia (Italian/American, 1940 - ), which is entitled "Tennis Player," features the contemporary art-deco style that Impiglia has made famous. It was printed in 1982 and is from an edition of 300.
Giancarlo Impiglia was born in Rome, Italy, on March 9, 1940. He studied at the "Liceo Artistico," (Artistic Lyceum), and at the 'Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma," (Academy of Fine Arts of Rome), where he specialized in murals and mosaics, under the direction of some of the major Italian postwar artists: Giuseppe Capogrossi, Giuho Turcato, Umberfo Mastroianni, Mario Mafai and others. Giancarlo Impiglia is widely recognized as one of the most influential artists of contemporary Art Deco style. By boldly combining hard-edged, abstract human figures with shimmering colors, Impiglia creates a kinetic vision that captures the rhythm of urban life. He juxtaposes static images with carefully planned and controlled geometric patterns, suggesting movement. This evocative imagery simultaneously conveys the joy, excitement, loneliness and sophistication of everyday life in a bustling metropolis. His figures are faceless. Personalities are defined only by sharply drawn profiles - a subtle commentary on the anonymity of city living. -

Signed Victor Vasarely Limited Edition Detvoe Serigraph
ExcellentA signed limited edition serigraph by Victor Vasarely, Hungarian (1908 - 1997) entitled "Detvoe." It is a serigraph that was created by the artist in 1990. This piece is an excellent example of Vasarely's work in the world of optical art. This piece is signed by the artist in pencil, lower right and numbered in pencil, lower left.

He studied at the Bauhaus Muhely in Budapest and in 1930 moved to Paris where he developed his particular vision which stems from the idea of democratizing the art object. He has used the income from the sale of these "investigations," as he calls his prints, to establish a socio-cultural foundation in Aix-en-Provence, France, for the study of the integration of plastic beauty at all levels of the urban environment. He is represented in major museums all over the world and has received many artistic and honorary awards.
