Signed Alexander Archipenko After Limited Edition Geometric Statuette Bronze Sculpture

A modern after sculpture in the style of Alexander Archipenko. The original of this sculpture was created in 1914. This sculpture, which is entitled "Geometric Statuette," is cast with bronze and measures 27 inches in height.

An energetic teacher and pioneering modernist sculptor of abstract human forms, Alexander Archipenko created one of the first multi-media sculptures, composing it of wood, glass, and wire. He experimented continuously with the effects of negative and positive space. He began his career with a Cubist style and then turned to simplified, abstract shapes with hollowed out parts of the bodies, especially where one might expect curves. In 1921, he moved to Berlin where he opened another art school and in 1923 immigrated to the United States and founded an art school in New York City as well as other locations including Chicago, Los Angeles, and Woodstock.

He became an American citizen, living out the remainder of his life in New York, but he taught short courses in numerous schools around the country including the Universities of Kansas City, Delaware, Washington, and Oregon. Most of Archipenko's work in German museums was confiscated by the Nazis in their purge of "degenerate art." In 1947, he produced the first of his sculptures that are illuminated from within. He accompanied an exhibition of his work throughout Germany in 1955--56, and at this time began his book Archipenko: Fifty Creative Years 1908--1958, published in 1960. Archipenko died on February 25, 1964, in New York.

A contemporary bronze sculpture by the Mexican artist, Almanzor, entitled Tango. This piece is in an edition of 50. The sculpture is 32 1/2 inches tall and is inscribed and numbered by the artist on the base.

Almanzor was born April 29th in Mexico City, Mexico. He studied architecture and Graphic Design at the Anahuac University of Mexico City. He has a sculpture workshop with renowned artist Marcelo Morandin in Mexico City and also a painting workshop with Pilar Castanenda. His sculptures have been exhibited all over the world with a focus in Mexico and in the United States.

Signed Bruno Luna Limited Edition Catcher Bronze Sculpture

This is a truly fun sculpture by the Mexican artist Bruno Luna. Luna's sculpture work features plump characters in everyday work and actions. This sculpture, which is entitled "The Catcher," is of a baseball player created in bronze around 1990. The base of the sculpture and inscribed by the artist.

Bruno Luna was born in Mexico City on July 9, 1963. Interested in art since his childhood, he completed a painting workshop with Professor Robin Bond, and then proceeded to the Anahuac University of Mexico City to study Architecture and Graphic Design. Over the years, his work evolved into a very distinct style, in which voluptuousness is converted into aesthetics. The influences of Mexican tradition, combined with almost cubist, Picasso-like treatment of the human form and the the sculptors bold interpretation of the medium, manage to transform the ridiculous into the sublime. Incredibly real, Bruno Luna's sculptures carry an undeniable air of happiness and vitality. However, this sculptor's most incredible achievement is undeniably, the way in which motion is captured in each of his bronze figures. Although frozen in time, each individual piece creates an illusion of continuous movement.

Signed Limited Edition Arman Waiting To Exhale Cigar Resin Sculpture

A signed limited edition sculpture made out of actual cigars suspended in epoxy resin by Arman, French (1929 - 2005) entitled "Waiting to Exhale." This is an exceptional piece that represents Arman's work in common objects becoming art which became known as "allures d'object" (object impressions).

The French Armand Pierre Fernandez, born in 1928, is one of the most important international object artists and a co-founder and member of the Nouveau Réalisme. He studied at the Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs in Nice from 1946 to 1949 and then continued his studies for two years at the Ecole du Louvre in Paris. An acquaintance with Yves Klein led to the idea of organizing joint happenings and events, which the two artists realized in 1953. Armand's neo-Dadaist 'Cachets' (stamp prints) of 1955, and later the 'Allures' (prints made with objects dipped into paint) and the 'Coupés' (cut-up objects) followed by the 'Colères' (objects which were smashed and then mounted) were still influenced by Kurt Schwitters. When the last letter of his name was accidentally forgotten on a catalogue cover in 1958, he decided to keep this spelling. The artist discovered his famous 'Poubelles', Plexiglas cases with rubbish cast in resin, at the beginning of the 1960s. From the 'Poubelles' Arman developed the so-called 'Accumulations', a number of the same objects assembled in show cases.

Together with Klein, Tinguely, Raysse and César, Arman is one of the most important artists of the Nouveau Réalisme. Since the 1950s he has been honored with numerous international exhibitions and has presented works twice at the documenta 3 and 6 in Kassel.
