Jaimendes was born on September 9, 1939 in Criciuma, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. He studied at the São Leopoldo Boarding School. At a very young age, Jaimendes discovered that he loved drawing and began to receive all the prizes that were awarded in the categories of drawing and painting. He completed his college studies in Rio de Janeiro in graphic design in which he excelled. He succeeded in the field of graphic design at the various advertising firms where he worked in Rio and São Paulo. Jaimendes has had numerous exhibitions around the world and is a highly regarded Brazilian artist. -
Signed Ari Gradus Boy and Dog in Landscape Watercolor Painting
ExcellentA framed watercolor by the Israeli artist, Ari Gradus (1943 - ). The piece is entitled "Boy and Dog in Landscape" and was painted around 1975.
Ari Gradus was born in a small village in Israel in 1943. He began painting at the age of eight, at which time his work already showed unusual promise. By the time he was twelve he had won his first prize, a contest for junior artists sponsored by the city of Tel Aviv. After three years of army service, Ari went to live in Paris, where he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts. He began exhibiting his work in group shows, which led to one-man exhibitions in Paris and Geneva. In 1968, Ari came to the United States to introduce his work to this country. In November of that year, he was invited by CBS-TV to be featured on their nationally televised program, "Look Up and Live." Ari Gradus works in a style perhaps best described as naive, with a freshness and creativity uniquely his own. There is an almost childlike lack of inhibition about his paintings, endowing them with a charm and vivacity of color that truly set them apart. -

Alvaro Guillot, the son of a diplomat, has traveled throughout the world. He lived the life of the existentialist with the young painters in St. Germaine de Pres. Through his friend, artist Charles Levier, he was influenced to pick up the brush and paint. But branching out into his own changing style, he experimented with natural surrealism that grows with his development in later pictures into abstract realism. Guillot has been described as a Surrealist with blocks of color and the arrangement of shapes within the canvas rather than in the nature of the subject matter itself. -

The paintings that Alvarez created caused gallery after gallery to lavish high praise for her innovative and provocative abstract designs. She was encouraged to set up a studio in New York City. Having studied at l'Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, it is no surprise that the Cobelle depicted a mélange of subject matters from the vibrant City of Lights to still life themes as seen in "Trumpet & Flute." The theme of flowers was commonly seen through out his work, as it was a favorite theme of the artist and one that he studied at various times of day and in a variety of weather conditions.
The artist infuses a barrage of vibrant colors to depict the energetic movement within the elaborate floral arrangement and collection of various musical instruments. Cobelle focuses on the intensity of the radiant hues to emphasize the vigor and vitality captured within the diverse assortment of flowers. Studying under Marc Chagall, Cobelle evokes a whimsical and dreamlike sense with the figures and structures dancing on air.
