Lithograph after (d’apres) Magritte, facsimile signed with Magritte Estate watermark, authorized by ADAGP, France. Printed on pure chiffon, Velin de Rives, 300 gr/square meter.This image was recreated by a master engraver and required over eighteen passes through a flat-bed lithographic press to be completed. Each print is signed in the plate, stamped with the seal of the Magritte Estate and signed by the publisher on the verso. This is part of an edition of 300. Painted over two years in 1948 and 1949 and part of the Hirshhorn Museum collection in Washington, DC. A woman cut up in many pieces, probably inspired by Russian dolls, with a background of checkered sky covered with clouds. This work was the subject of a bronze sculpture in 1967.
