In a time span of over 75 years, Picasso amazed the world with his versatility and genius. His art captured a unique style that was rich in personal expression and diversity. One of the most famous artists in the world, who was also a co-founder of Cubism, best known for his paintings, particularly his Blue Period and his creative style of arranging facial features. He also produced ceramic and bronze sculptures, drawings, etchings, collage and poetry. Picasso bestowed upon the world a legacy of art that was to be admired for generations. This lithograph was selected from the personal collection inherited by Marina Picasso, Pablo Picasso's granddaughter.
After Pablo Picasso's death in 1973, his granddaughter Marina authorized the printing of these original lithographs, which have come to be known as the Picasso Estate Collection. The lithographs were meticulously created after the original works (Oil Paintings, Watercolors, Pastels, Charcoal Drawings, etc.) by Master Chromist Marcel Salinas, who worked closely with Picasso in his lifetime. They are printed in an edition of 500 on first-quality Arches paper. To ensure authenticity, each print is signed and numbered in pencil by Marina Picasso and embossed with the estate and chromist's seals, along with the legend on the reverse "Approved by the heirs of Pablo Picasso." -

Salvador Dali was born in May 11, 1904 in the small agricultural town of Figueres, Spain. Dalí became a leader of the surrealist movement. His painting, The Persistence of Memory, with the soft or melting watches is still one of the best-known surrealist works. But as the war approached, the apolitical Dalí clashed with the surrealists and was "expelled" from the surrealist group during a "trial" in 1934. He did however, exhibit works in international surrealist exhibitions throughout the decade but by 1940, Dalí was moving into a new style that eventually became known as his "classic" period, demonstrating a preoccupation with science and religion. As an artist, Salvador Dalí was not limited to a particular style or media. The body of his work, from early impressionist paintings through his transitional surrealist works, and into his classical period, reveals a constantly growing and evolving artist. Dalí worked in all media, leaving behind a wealth of oils, watercolors, drawings, graphics, and sculptures, jewels and objects of all descriptions.
This is an exquisite example of the work of Salvador Dali is a great example of the impact and beauty that Dali has brought to the world of art.

ExcellentA piece of artwork by the famed American artist, Romare Bearden, American (1911 - 1988) entitled "Autumn of the Rooster." Romare Bearden is considered to be one of the greatest contributors to the African American art world. It is a framed lithograph created in 1983.
Romare Bearden was born in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1914. Soon after his birth, his family moved to Harlem in New York City. During the mid-1930s, when Bearden was a student of George Grosz at the Art Students League, he founded the "306 Group" for black artists living in Harlem. Romare Bearden was honored during his lifetime and posthumously with numerous prestigious awards, publications and exhibitions. Along with representation in important public and private collections, he was also awarded the National Medal of the Arts and honored with a groundbreaking retrospective exhibition at the National Gallery of Art. A master collagist, Bearden is celebrated today as a preeminent, highly prolific artist of exceptional and multifaceted talents and interests. He was a jazz aficionado, author of scholarly books, a song writer/lyricist as well an arts activist and an engaged humanist. Bearden incorporated into his artwork a rich combination of influences from the art and culture of America, Africa, Asia and Europe and took inspiration from memories and experiences of the rural South, the urban North and the Caribbean. Romare Bearden, painter and collage maker, filled his works with the symbols and myths of the American black experience. -

Internationally acclaimed sculptor and printmaker Francisco Zuñiga was born in Costa Rica. He studied drawing, stone sculpture, and engraving at the School of Fine Arts in San Jose. Later, in 1936, he studied stone carving at La Esmeralda in Mexico City. He was appointed to the faculty of La Esmeralda where he remained until his retirement in 1970. Zuniga's art reflects a love and respect for the people of Central America and their traditions. In 1972, he created his first lithograph. As a complement to his emotionally powerful sculpture, Zuniga's prints articulate the sensitivity and sensuality of the human figure. He has been the recipient of numerous international prizes and awards. His work is exhibited frequently in prominent galleries throughout the world and may be found in the permanent collections of twenty-nine museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Los Angeles County Museum, the Mexican Museum in San Francisco, and the Phoenix Art Museum. Zuniga halted his artwork production in 1993, and he passed away in his studio in 1998. -

ExcellentA framed lithograph from the famous French Cubist Fernand Léger, (1881 - 1955). This piece is from a series entitled La Ville and is stamp signed, as it was probably created after his death circa 1965.
French painter Fernand Léger was aligned with the cubist movement and was an innovator in abstract art. He studied briefly at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in 1903. By 1911 he had become friendly with Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso and had exhibited at the Salon des Independants. Leger continually experimented with color, shape, movement, and space. He was originally trained as an architect's draughtsman and photographic retoucher. Having failed the entrance exam to the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in 1903, he studied at the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs and the Academie Julian. In 1909 he ranked as one of the three major Cubists and became a member of the Puteaux group in 1911. He was the first of the Cubists to experiment with non-figurative abstraction, contrasting curvilinear forms against a rectilinear grid. Today his paintings and prints can be seen in prominent museums throughout the world. -

René Magritte was born on the 21st November, 1898 in Hainaut, Belgium. His father was a tailor and a merchant. As his business was not successful, the family had to move often. René lost his mother early and tragically -- she committed suicide for unclear reasons; René was only 14 years old at the time. From 1916 through 1918, Magritte studied in the Royal Academy of Arts in Brussels (Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts). He became a wallpaper designer and commercial artist. His early painting works were executed under the influence of the Cubism and Futurism (1918-20) and then was inspired by the Purists and Fernand Léger. In 1922, Magritte married Georgette Berger, with whom he first became acquainted when he was fifteen years old. After meeting again in 1920, she became his model and then wife. Demonstrating the problems of visual perception and illusionary of images, Magritte used the symbols of mirrors, eyes, windows, stages and curtains and pictures within pictures. Magritte died of cancer at the age of 69, August 15, 1967 in Brussels. -

Alex Katz is a leading figure painter of the new realism movement in contemporary art. Katz was born in New York City, and studied art at the Cooper Union from 1945 to 1949. In the late 1950s, he found himself among a growing number of artists dissatisfied with the then-dominant stream of abstract expressionism, with its emphasis on formal abstraction. A summer resident of Lincolnville, Maine since 1954, he has developed a close relationship with local Colby College. The college presented him with an honorary doctorate in 1984. In October 1996, the Colby College Museum of Art opened a wing dedicated to Katz that features more than 400 oil paintings, collages, and prints donated by the artist. -

Salvador Dali was born in May 11, 1904 in the small agricultural town of Figueres, Spain. Dalà became a leader of the surrealist movement. His painting, The Persistence of Memory, with the soft or melting watches is still one of the best-known surrealist works. But as the war approached, the apolitical Dalà clashed with the surrealists and was "expelled" from the surrealist group during a "trial" in 1934. He did however, exhibit works in international surrealist exhibitions throughout the decade but by 1940, Dalà was moving into a new style that eventually became known as his "classic" period, demonstrating a preoccupation with science and religion. As an artist, Salvador Dalà was not limited to a particular style or media. The body of his work, from early impressionist paintings through his transitional surrealist works, and into his classical period, reveals a constantly growing and evolving artist. Dalà worked in all media, leaving behind a wealth of oils, watercolors, drawings, graphics, and sculptures, jewels and objects of all descriptions. Two years later, a pace-maker was implanted. Much of this part of his life was spent in seclusion, first in Pubol and later in his apartments at Torre Galatea, adjacent to the Teatro Museo. Salvador Dalà died on January 23, 1989 in Figueres from heart failure with respiratory complications.

Framed Keith Haring Limited Edition United Nations - Fight AIDS Worldwide Lithograph
ExcellentA lithograph on Arches by pop art icon, Keith Haring (1958 - 1990). This lithograph is a piece completed for the United Nations campaign of Fighting AIDS Worldwide. Tragically Keith Haring died of AIDS the same year this lithograph was produced, which has a special meaning for Haring fans. This piece is an edition of 1000 and was issued unsigned.
Keith Haring was born on May 4, 1958 in Reading, Pennsylvania, and was raised in nearby Kutztown, Pennsylvania. He developed a love for drawing at a very early age, learning basic cartooning skills from his father and from the popular culture around him, such as Dr. Seuss and Walt Disney. Between 1980 and 1986, Haring achieved international recognition and participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions. His first solo exhibition in New York, held at the Tony Shafrazi Gallery in 1982, was immensely popular and received critical acclaim. During this period, he participated in highly renowned international survey exhibitions such as Documenta 7 in Kassel Germany, the São Paulo Biennial and the Whitney Biennial. Haring completed numerous public projects in the first half of the 80's as well, ranging from an animation for the Spectracolor billboard in Times Square, designing sets and backdrops for theaters and clubs, to developing watch designs for Swatch and creating murals worldwide. In April 1986, Haring opened the Pop Shop, a retail store in SOHO selling T-shirts, toys, posters, buttons and magnets bearing his images. Haring considered the shop to be an extension of his work and painted the entire interior of the store in an abstract black on white mural, creating a striking and unique retail environment.
Haring was diagnosed with AIDS in 1988. In 1989, he established the Keith Haring Foundation, its mandate being to provide funding and imagery to AIDS organizations and children's programs, and to expand the audience for Haring's work through exhibitions, publications and the licensing of his images. Haring enlisted his imagery during the last years of his life to speak about his own illness and generate activism and awareness about AIDS. -

Signed Alex Katz Limited Edition Night: William Dunas Dance II Lithograph
ExcellentA gorgeous lithograph by the famed American pop portraitist, Alex Katz. This lithograph, which is entitled "Night: William Dunas Dance," is signed by the artist in pencil, lower right and numbered in pencil, lower right and is the second lithograph from that series of four lithographs from 1979.
Alex Katz is a leading figure painter of the new realism movement in contemporary art. He is best known for his realistic portraits of friends and family, notable for their relaxed attitudes and uncomplicated bearing. Katz was born in New York City, and studied art at the Cooper Union from 1945 to 1949. In the late 1950s, he found himself among a growing number of artists dissatisfied with the then-dominant stream of abstract expressionism, with its emphasis on formal abstraction. A summer resident of Lincolnville, Maine since 1954, he has developed a close relationship with local Colby College. The college presented him with an honorary doctorate in 1984. In October 1996, the Colby College Museum of Art opened a wing dedicated to Katz that features more than 400 oil paintings, collages, and prints donated by the artist.
William Dunas is a well-known avant-garde choreographer.
