Description
Introduced in 1953, the Rolex Explorer has long been credited with honoring the achievements of Edmund Hilary and Tenzing Norgay, who were the first men to successfully climb to the peak of Mount Everest. With a strong and durable case, highly visible dial and ability to withstand harsh temperatures, the Explorer is the essential watch for adventure and exploration. Considered the most identifiable Rolex model, the Explorer can be recognized with the trademark large black dial with luminous triangular indicator at twelve and Arabic numerals at three, six and nine. This gentlemans Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date Explorer II, reference 16570 and a case number beginning with P that designates a 2000 model, showcases the trademark luminescent triangular indicator at twelve. A round stainless steel case with stainless steel 24-hour GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) dual time bezel surrounds the white dial that houses the date display with trademark Cyclops lens. A pair of white and black hands marks the 31 jewel perpetual automatic movement, which is shown through the applied luminescent triangular, circle and stick indicators as markers. The red and luminescent arrow hand corresponds to the 24-hour bezel. Finishing this piece is the original Rolex stainless steel Oysterlock bracelet and stainless steel folding clasp. This circa 2000 watch is in good condition with scuffing on the case, case back and bracelet.
*We measure the maximum fit of the watch including watchcase; links can sometimes be removed to shorten band length. Shown is the approximate interior circumference with the clasp closed.
